2007 guber race:Opposition mounts against Goodluck Jonathan

A youth group from Nembe Local Government Area has joined the growing number of those opposed to the 2007 gubernatorial ambition of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

A youth group from Nembe Local Government Area has joined the growing number of those opposed to the 2007 gubernatorial ambition of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In a statement circulated around the state, the group of aggrieved youths castigated the deputy governor for what they said is his non-performance especially in the area of attracting laudable development projects to the area.
Dr. Jonathan, who many believe has a stronghold of the Bayelsa East Senatorial District comprising his native Ogbia, Nembe and Brass LGAs was accused by the youths of failing to imapctt impacting appropriately on the welfare and progress of the people.

Rather, Jonathan they alleged had through out his tenure favoured a few people from his Ogbia home base in the area of political appointments.

Though the Nembe youths did not give any hint of which camp they'll shift their loyalty, analysts are seing their pronouncement as a warning signal that the turf may be very hot for the deputy governor in the 2007 guber race which is supposed to kick-off with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party ward and local government primaries billed to take place in a couple of months.

Meanwhile, some political watchers have commenced the assessment of how the race for the Creek Haven (Bayelsa Government House) in 2007 would look like, basing their analysis on the recently reconstituted local government council's membership.

Their verdict being that 'the cartel', the camp under the firm grip of Chief Abel Ebifemowei (a.k.a T.O), Special Adviser to the Governor on Government House Transport, Logistics and Youth has the upper hand in the emerging political configuration of Bayelsa and may tip the balance in 2007, all things being equal.
